This luxury family circuit runs year-round. The dry season from June through October gives the easiest wildlife viewing on the mainland and consistently warm, dry days on Zanzibar. December through March brings the southern Serengeti calving season alongside excellent beach weather, making it a favourite window for families. The long rains fall April–May, when some lodges close for maintenance — ask about alternative dates if travelling then.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to a family-friendly lodge on the outskirts of Arusha for the night. Settle in, meet your private guide over dinner, and rest ahead of an early departure the following morning.
Drive to Tarangire National Park, home to some of Tanzania's largest elephant herds and its iconic baobab-studded landscape. Enjoy a picnic lunch followed by an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River, then check in to your family suite in time for the resident naturalist's evening kids' programme.

Descend onto the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive among one of Africa's densest concentrations of wildlife, with a picnic breakfast by the hippo pool. In the early afternoon, continue across the plains to your Serengeti lodge, arriving in time for a sundowner game drive.
A full day exploring the central Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives, broken up by a relaxed lunch and pool time at the lodge. Children can join the in-camp naturalist for a tracking and bush-skills session while the rest of the family relaxes, before regrouping for an early dinner under the stars.
Enjoy one last sunrise game drive in the Serengeti before transferring to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Zanzibar, via Arusha or Kilimanjaro. On arrival, a private driver transfers your family directly to your villa on the coast, where the pace shifts entirely for the rest of the trip.
A day entirely at leisure in your private villa. Your dedicated chef and butler take care of every meal and request, whether that means a morning on the villa's private stretch of beach, an afternoon by the pool, or a gentle snorkelling trip arranged just for your family.
A guided half-day excursion into Stone Town's winding streets and markets, followed by a visit to a working spice farm where kids can taste and smell cloves, vanilla and cinnamon growing on the plant. Return to the villa in the afternoon for a final relaxed evening on the coast, with a private beach dinner to close out the trip.
A final relaxed breakfast at the villa before your private driver transfers the family to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for onward or return flights.

Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to begin your safari. Most international airlines serve JRO via Amsterdam, Doha, Nairobi, or Addis Ababa. The tour ends at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on Zanzibar, which has direct connections back to JRO, Dar es Salaam, and several European hubs.
Your guide will pick you up from any hotel in Arusha city center or from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Pickup time is typically 8:00 AM on Day 2. An overnight stay near Arusha on arrival is included to allow time to adjust before the safari begins.
The mainland circuit is done by private 4x4 vehicle. A single scheduled light-aircraft flight connects the Serengeti to Zanzibar on Day 6, and a private driver handles all transfers on the island.
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival for USD $50 (USD $100 for US citizens), including children, valid for both the mainland and Zanzibar. A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining is required for every traveller. Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from an endemic area.
